Training & Performance

Follow my journey through strength training, jiu jitsu, striking and competition. Learn from real sessions, not just theory.

Competition

Where training meets the test. Watch my matches, see the adjustments in real time, and learn how I apply technique under pressure.

  • Tried the Marcelo Garcia arm drag → ended up on bottom
  • Stayed calm → transitioned straight into a triangle attempt
  • Opponent started to escape → I chose to reset to my feet
  • Lesson: Sometimes the best move isn’t forcing the submission
  • It’s about composure, smart decisions, and prioritizing position over tunnel vision

  • Open with a Marcelo Garcia arm-drag takedown, chasing the back right away.
  • Opponent hides his back well, so I transition into top knee-on-belly to secure control.
  • He shifts to open guard and locks a grip on my right ankle.
  • I peel off the ankle grip to free my leg.
  • Execute a non-traditional knee cut passno underhook, relying instead on pressure and positioning.
  • Opponent tries to retain guard, but I stay nimble and beat his re-hooks.
  • Re-establish knee-on-belly after passing to lock down control.
  • Deliberately slow the pace on top — recover cardio, think through the next sequence, and apply mental pressure.
  • From there, I’m ready to transition into finishing sequences.

  • Gain back control and utilize a body triangle (Depending on rule set, first establish hooks to gain points before switching to body triangle)
  • Demonstrated patience and prioritizing position over submission, no need to rush through a good position. Cook your opponent and wait for their mistakes
  • Hand fighting for the choke, covering opponents mouth with palm of hand to make them move their chin side to side / up n down
  • Lastly, after maintaining control I receive my opportunity to lock in the choke.

Strength + Conditioning

Building the engine behind the performance. Lifts, circuits, and recovery work designed to improve power, endurance, and resilience on the mats.

Training

Daily grind, drills, and sparring sessions. The work that happens behind the scenes to sharpen skills and push progression.

  • Start with hand fighting on the feet
  • Training partner shoots a single leg → I respond with a flying triangle attempt
  • Training partner defends → I transition smoothly into an omoplata sweep to recover back to my feet
  • Later sequence: I secure a single leg
  • Transition into an underhook on the leg + neck grip control
  • Finish by tripping my training partner down with pressure and control
